Trauma of an Italian Student in Miami

Matteo Falcinelli, an Italian student studying in America, was arrested in Miami Beach on the night of February 24 and was subjected to alleged police brutality. Videos show Falcinelli being restrained by police for 13 minutes, leading to physical and emotional trauma. His mother described the experience as torture, and Falcinelli revealed that he attempted suicide multiple times due to the ordeal.

One clear aspect from the video is evident: it only takes one petulant, somewhat disrespectful individual to provoke an excessive response from the Miami Police, leading to a 13-minute hogtying and a display of excessive force.

The Italian student has been now charged with two counts of battery as well as misdemeanor trespassing and resisting an officer for brushing off a badge with his pinky finger.

The Italian consulate general in Miami and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Rome have been actively involved in the case, providing support to Falcinelli and his family while condemning the alleged mistreatment by local authorities. Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani has urged the US ambassador to Italy to prioritize the matter and ensure justice for Falcinelli.

The incident has caused an uproar in Italian newspapers, with the family seeking justice and accountability for the trauma inflicted upon Matteo Falcinelli. The international community is closely monitoring the legal proceedings and hoping for a resolution that brings closure and justice to Falcinelli.
